Glow

For local authorities

Demonstration of the Glow portal

Glow is going to transform the way you deliver services to schools. The benefits include:

  • efficient, fast and cost-effective communication with schools
  • the ability to integrate and rationalise your service delivery
  • a way to consolidate separate areas of provision or practice into more coherent units
  • using performance and tracking data effectively and efficiently, internally and within schools
  • communicating and sharing data with external organisations and bodies.

Your service, your choices

Glow is made up of core and extended elements - so it’s up to each local authority to decide which of these elements it wants.

We have also included a far-reaching consultation and personalisation process, allowing local authorities to tailor Glow to their own developmental goals.

We’re committed to discussions with all key stakeholder groups and organisations - the 32 Scottish education authorities are essential contributors to this discussion. We expect to learn a great deal from a consultation process with authorities that will help us deliver a service the Scottish educational community actually wants and needs.

Training

We are designing a detailed training programme which builds on the national ICT initiative - Masterclass.

The training programme will create Glow mentors, trained to offer training at authority level and to schools or clusters of schools. Local authorities will need to identify candidates to be mentors. You will also need to consider how Glow might influence your CPD plans and provision.

We are also producing a complete Glow CPD resource pack for all schools and teachers - as well as training for technical staff.

Security and safety

Along with specialist security consultants DNS, we will provide expert technical advice and guidance.
