The Interconnect

The Interconnect facilitates the delivery of the digital content to the local authority's datacentre boundary. Managed by JANET(UK) it provides high bandwidth communications between the local authorities, Glow datacentre and other national bodies such as Learning and Teaching Scotland, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and SEEMIS.

Originally purchased and installed in 2003/4, the negotiations on the reprocurement for Interconnect V2 between LTS, Scottish Government and JANET(UK) are underway.

Interconnect performance

The Netsight Monitor operated by JANET(UK), provides a public view of the network status. Authorised technical staff at organisations using the Interconnect can access traffic and performance statistics for their connection using a supplied User ID and password.

Organisations wishing to confirm log-in details for this service should contact the Glow Technology team at LTS by emailing glowadmin@LTScotland.org.uk.

Interconnect email lists

Two email lists have been set up to facilitate communication and the exchange of information:

  • Interconnect Managers' email list - for management staff in connected organisations
  • Interconnect Technical Contacts email list - for authorised technical contacts in organisations using the Interconnect.

Registered list members can access a full archive of the emails online.

How to join the email lists

All requests for changes and additions to these lists should be made through nominated Glow technical or management contacts for your local authority and sent to glowadmin@LTScotland.org.uk.
